flyness 101

FLYNESS IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!

I didn't even know I was "fly" this day.  I love a good theme party because I love to dress up and get especially "fly". I seize every opportunity to break out a cool hat, ball gown, strand of pearls, luscious elbow gloves - whatever is out of the norm.  I personally think that those are "fly" opportunites.

On this particular day, July 18, 2015 I attended along with my daughter and one of my closest friends Russell Simmon's 20 Annual Art For Life Gala at Fairview Farms in the Hamptons (Long Island, NY).  It was a spectacular star studded celebrity type of event.  I don't remember the exact theme but judging from what I wore it must've been great Gatsby or something like that.  I was all about having fun and living my best life.   But when me and my friend Lisa's picture showed up in a Hamptons Society magazine, I knew then that I was wearing my FLYNESS!  And even better, when the picture that you see here wound up in Essence Magazine's electronic publication  https://www.essence.com/fashion/street-style/street-style-41-glamourous-frocks-annual-art-life-gala/#138073 noted as "Chic Gala Garbs" and I was #15 of 41 glamarous frocks at the event  I just sat back and sighed and said to myself - this is what FLYNESS is all about.

I have realized that in my senior years the importance of making memories from great experiences is key to my well being.

do fly things

I don't even know how this happened or even when.  All I remember is answering something somewhere about people giving away there prized collection.  I used to collect clowns mainly because they represented a period in my life when I wasn't happy on the inside although I was smiling on the outside.  I thought of myself as crying the tears of a clown because I figured clowns cried on the inside while keeping fun up on the outside as I often did.  So when the lady responded about my collection I was like come and get it.  I was starting a new life in a new house that for the first time in my life was just for me.  No husband, no kids, no boyfriend.  Just me!  I wanted to get rid of the unhappy past.   I was surprised to learn from the lady who took the collection that she was a creative artist and that the collection as well as picture of me (the one above) was chosen to be used in a museum exhibit.  I and my collection were actually displayed in a real museum and when I find the information about the collection again I will share it here.

In the meantime I thought it was pretty "fly"!
